A Byte of my 2.2-lb Brain

Just sharing stuff…

About

I’m a Pinay scientist and amateur trader who recently (and temporarily) moved abroad for an academic/research stint. I am an advocate of investing in the Philippine market and of a strong Philippine scientific culture just like my mentors and colleagues back in the country.

I have decided to start this blog (Feb 2012) to track the development of my FA/TA/charting/trading skills, IF there would be any. This is just a hobby that I do in my spare time.

This is also a space for me to write about other topics not directly related to stocks. Be that as it may,ย all content of this site consists ONLY of my OWN (personal) opinion and my personal opinion alone. Moreover, old posts may or may not reflect my current thoughts and opinions.

My only wish is for future followers of this blog to double-check andย give the third degree to the stuff I post here before making any stratagem on their portfolios. Constructive comments, tips, and whatnot are very much welcome.

Cheers!

I have learned that if you want to profit out of stock trading, you shouldn’t treat it as a hobby but a vocation ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, reading trading books, e.g., Stock Market Wizards will also make you even more addicted to trading.

Hi, Pam. Thanks for the book recommendation, I’ll try to purchase and peruse if I find the time. ๐Ÿ˜€

You’re probably right about making stock trading a vocation rather than a hobby. On the other hand, within my circle, most of the guys who are stock trading and earning profits at the same time do it as a “hobby”. Hobby in a sense that they have 40-hr/week jobs outside of finance/trading, just like myself. Maybe we have just been lucky the past years, or probably just outliers. Personally, I think it’s okay as a hobby as long as we’re reaching our investment goals. ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. Wow I thought there were only few Pinoys promoting the Philippine Stock Market! Lets share whatever we know and let us make investment in stocks something we Pinoys should be in as well.

Yes, actually there’s really only just a few of us (including you) who are truly into stock trading [that’s according to some statistics I read a few weeks back — only about 1% of Filipinos invest in equities]. That’s why I agree with you — spread the word on stocks, encourage people to invest, and then share what we know.

    Hi E!

Still studying the one I have with the company to see if I need another. Also, would you mind sharing the life insurance you have dediced to get in the Philippines.

    Thanks,

Hi, J. Actually, it’s the same for me. I only have one from our agency; but I already find it comprehensive enough, in terms of health, that is. The terms are quite generous.

Ah, I still couldn’t convince myself to sign-up for a life insurance as I’m well-invested in stocks and mutual funds. ๐Ÿ™‚ However, I’ve been doing a lot of reading, and I’m seriously considering SunLife and PhilAm Life — for a more comprehensive insurance plans (Life: Health + Savings).
